Mozi is a peer-to-peer (P2P) botnet that targets Internet of Things (IoT) devices, particularly routers and digital video recorders (DVRs). It spreads via Telnet using weak passwords and known exploits. Evolving from several well-known malware families, Mozi is capable of launching DDoS attacks and data exfiltration while utilizing a distributed hash table (DHT) for communication. Unlike conventional malware that relies on centralized command and control servers, Mozi employs DHT to maintain resilience and anonymity during its operations.
