Mozi Botnet

IoT Device Infection - A peer-to-peer botnet targeting routers and digital devices.

Mozi is a peer-to-peer (P2P) botnet specifically designed to infect Internet of Things (IoT) devices such as network routers and digital video recorders (DVRs). It exploits weak telnet passwords and various unpatched vulnerabilities across different devices, particularly targeting brands like Netgear and Huawei. Once a device is compromised, it joins a larger network of infected devices, allowing the botnet to conduct distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks and execute arbitrary commands. Mozi's ability to achieve persistence on compromised devices makes it a major threat in the landscape of IoT security.

Use case

Infects IoT devices and routers, leveraging vulnerabilities to become part of a distributed network.
